BANG TANGO Pistol
Whipped In The Bible Belt |
 |
|
Loud and proud hard pounding
club rock, from beginning to end
this album gives and never lets
up. Lance Eric's tone is
unadulterated low-end. Lance
expertly drives the rhythm of
each song, laying down perfect
time while punching through the
mix with growl and authority.
Fun and enjoyable from the first
track to the last, this is the
sort of rock and roll that you
hope never dies or goes away.
You just want more... and you
want it louder. You'll be
singing "Dick in the System" in
the shower for weeks to come. |

Aalics Bronson's skill at
finding a groove and then
punching the melody is apparent
all through this thoughtful,
interesting listen. Choosing to
at times tame the growl of his
Spectors, there's range and
versatility from track to track
that shows maturity and
thoughtful respect for the
compositions overall melodic
feel. A bassist you should
definitely become more familiar
with, Aalics has a lot of great
things to share musically. |

KENNY WEYDENER Kenny
Weydener |
 |
|
Kenny's skill as a solo artist
and his efforts to elevate the
bass guitar as a solo instrument
are extremely successful on this
album of beautifully melodic
compositions. His Spector
is handled with agile and
expressive fingers and sings for
the audience's enjoyment.
When deciding which of these
tracks would be used for the
Spector Catalog on DVD this year
the problem was difficult...
they are all excellent examples
of writing, performance and
tone. |

MOBILE DEATH CAMP Clear

|
Boe Skadeland's vintage Spectors
drive a growly pulse-pounding
low-end on this death metal
rage-fest. Deep, clear and
unmistakably vintage Spector,
Boe's Kramer NS-2A and SSD Era
NS-94 models manage his
articulate and growly low-end
sound with headroom to spare. Boe
shows why there's no school like
the old school and has earned my
gratitude for proving that these
older vintage models are still a
force to be reckoned with. Consider
yourself learned. |

JOHN MONTAGNA WTF? |
 |
|
An interesting concept album by
"Mr. ReBop", one of my personal
favorite bassists, John drives
through a series of short tracks
are 2 minutes on average) themed
compositions with that classic
growly low-end that the Spector
ReBop bass is known for. This
album screams, "Hire me to write
the music for your TV show or
Movie" to me. It's good stuff
and further showcases why John
is the trifecta musician, he can
write, play bass like a mad-man
and sing... and do all three
with undeniable skill and
finesse. |

CIRCA And So On |

Yes alumni Tony Kaye and Billy
Sherwood supply another
thoughtful progressive rock opus
full of classic Sherwood bass
and guitar. Without
question Billy Sherwood has one
of the most distinctive Spector
Tone profiles to be found in the
music industry. Each track
is a Spector-lover's smorgasbord
of melodic and driving groves,
riffs and the technical mastery
that can only be played by Billy
Sherwood. |

PERMANENT REVERSE
Darkness Light |
 |
An interesting mix of Anthem
instilled Hard Rock, Blues inspired
Rock and brooding melodies and
power chords. The
musical journey that
is Darkness Light is a filling,
satisfying path to travel.
The unmistakable Spector tone
fills the spaces of the melody
and ties the songs together with
purpose and skill. Mike
Arrington's ability to weld the
NS-2 and bring out the classic
growl and grit that it is known
for is present in every track. |
